Classwork: Lesson 14 is about the Ambiguous Case of SSA. We watched this video in class:
What about Angle-Side-Side, twice. Very important to understand why we can never use SSA/ASS as a theorem. We then went back to Lesson 13 and made sure we can do all of page 106.
Homework: Lesson 13, page 107 #'s 1 and 3 only (10 blanks to fill out).

Classwork: Translations. Translations have vectors. The vector notation uses < , >, NOT ( , ). Parenthesis indicates a point ( 4, -2). Vector notion indicates what directions the x and y move <4, -2>. A vector rule tells you specifically that x and y are doing. Example (x, y) --> (x + 3, y - 5) means move to the right 3 and move down 5.
Homework: Finish your Reflections and Translation worksheet.

M2 U3 Lesson 2: Rotations and Notation
Thursday, 3 October 2019
Classwork:
page 19: Notation. Read: Zero degrees is less than theta (Greek letter/variable) theta is less than 180 degrees. The notation reads: Rotation about the point C of theta degrees of C = C' (C prime). I dont' like the double C here, continue to next picture.
Page 23. Here, this notation is better. First off, to find the angle of rotation, put your pencil and the center of rotation - in this example, point D and pick a point on the pre-image (the first image - the given image) and draw a ray from the center of rotation through the chosen point (ray DA). Find the corresponding point on the rotated image (A'B'C'D') and draw ray (DA'). your angle of rotation is angle ADA'. Measure the angle with a protractor. The notation reads: Rotation around point D, clockwise (the negative sign also can mean opposite) 75 degrees of figure ABCD which results in figure A'B'C'D'.
Finally, page 25. How to find the center of rotation given two figures (pre-image and image - look for the prime marks). The directions are right there for you. This just needs more practice. Follow the directions.

Wednesday, 2 October 2019
Classwork: Unit 3: Transformations. Vocabulary Knowledge Ratings for Lesson 1 (pgs 1 & 2 - there are ten Vocabulary Terms for Lesson 1). Rate these words as N, S or U. On pages 10 & 11 we discussed Rotations, Reflections and Translations. On page 11 we used our compasses to explore rotations.
Homework: HWPS for Lesson 1 of Unit 3. pages 13 - 15, problems 1 - 6.
- Please make sure all your pages from Module 1: Units 1 & 2 are in order. Take Module 1 out of your binders and keep at home in a safe place. You will need this module and these units to review for your final exam in December.
- The 2nd Module for Units 3 & 4 go into your binders. Make sure the flashcards you made for Units 1 & 2 go into your binders with Module 2.

Classwork: We added 4 more cards to our flashcards - Angles in a Triangle, Isosceles and Equilateral Triangles, Right Triangles, and Exterior Angles of a Triangle. These were covered yesterday in Lesson 11 and there is a chart on page 118 that should be filled out.
Homework for tonight is the Homework Problem Set for Lesson 12. Pages 127 - 130, #'s 1 - 14. I encourage you to try the two challenge problems (#'s 8 and 14). They will not be held against you if you can't figure them out - but TRY.
